I love computers and have since the past 2 years. I have wanted to know everything about them i.e. programming, hardware, web-design, and just about everything else to know. My goal is to become a c.e.o. of a major computer company and invent something world-changing just like my leader Bill Gates. I just started high school with basic knowledge of computers i.e. hardware, excellent typing, early "stuff" and am able to skip the regular computer basics class because of my previous knowledge. Now I get to start beginning programming with Alice and stuff like that and next year A.P. computer science with java, then android app development and advanced web-design. What should I do if I wish to major in programming/ what is the best college/ how can I get to c.e.o quickly? I know I probably want to work for Microsoft or do game programming, but what is the best path? I know this is so early to ask, but I will do whatever it takes to ace everything and become ahead.

Microsoft SharePoint Designer (formerly known as Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer) is a specialized HTML editor and web design freeware for creating or modifying Microsoft SharePoint sites and web pages. Back in the late 1990’s the web development community became abuzz with the concept of WYSIWYG web design. WYSIWYG simply means What You See Is What You Get. This concept and technology allowed web developers and site administrators to rapidly design and deploy their webpages without the need to update code, switch windows, and reload their page in their browser window to see how their coding affected the look and feel of the page. Now they would be able to essentially click and drag their way around their page and design, customize and align content visually as opposed to contextually. Microsoft, like many others, jumped on this bandwagon and produced a top-notch product called FrontPage. It was branded as part of the Microsoft Office suite from 1997 to 2003. With it’s inclusion into Office Suite, many people were able to become involved in the creation of their own websites without having to necessarily rely on hiring a development or consulting company. In 2003 FrontPage was discontinued. Many people thought they had been led astray or left in the dark from this decision by Microsoft. However, many people didn’t realize that in fact they had branched off the FrontPage project into two very separate programs. One being Microsoft Expression Studio and the other being

I just graduated with a degree in Communications.

I did some internships and did well at them. I actually was entrusted to work and contribute to the companies I interned for, which is rare since a lot of interns mostly sit and watch or do menial tasks. I don’t want to generalize, of course.

Because of my experience I was so excited to take on the job market. I developed and managed my own own business part time and have been doing well at it, but it lacks stability, so I want to find something more stable. I have experience in Microsoft Office, FCP, SEO, Web development, copy editing, writing in AP style, and social media marketing, ect.

Unfortunately most jobs require at least 3 years of steady experience working in these areas. Since internships only last a few mos at best, this type of experience in-school is nearly impossible unless a student is already working in the field he/she wants a degree in.

I "thought" that with all my so-called experience I would fare well vs. other grads. lol nope. I’m feeling a little intimidated, because the job openings these days require employees to be proficient with skills that span across multiple majors. For example, someone is expected to be highly skilled in web development and at the same time needs to be experienced with copy editing or Excel. Most degrees do not offer this diversity unless you’re a multiple major.

Had I of known this, I would of expanded my education to other genres, but you’re encouraged to stay specific to your major and are even required to attain access codes to take certain classes, which limits you from being able to expand your experience in other fields anyway.

A lot of office work that requests a Comm degree also requires proficient use of Excel and PowerPoint. Honestly, even though I have a pretty good grasp of ppt. and limited experience with Excel, no class within my major has EVER offered classes that focuses on learning these skills.

I’m scared and overwhelmed about what to do. I have published writing samples from a 20,000+ readership I used to write for, but it all seems to be a bunch of hooey to employers, since these don’t even seem to be the skills they are looking for.

What do I do? I’m afraid that my hard work in college and diligence in my internships was a waste and that I would have been better off getting a vocational degree?

Please advise me. Is my degree useless?
I just went to Subway and the manager told me she has a BA, but was forced to work there since college didn’t prepare her for the real-world job market. lol how encouraging.

Lets say that you are a budding computer coder and will care to learn a stable language to design websites. Also that this person knows a bit of VB 6.0, a bit of c++ with .NET and currently in the process of understanding python.

The languages that this programmer is split between consist of ASP.NET, VB C#, (I do not know if the last two are the same, so if they are please say that in your answer), and php. This coder doesn’t wish to learn javascript, but if its the most practical than it’ll be the winner of the chicken dinner.

Right now this coder will like to buy a book that will teach the basics of the language and how to use a program effectively to host a nice looking web page.

This coder is not looking to make a website with dancing Bologna everywhere and forms out the wazoo, just a simple looking ecommerce site or just a homepage for his dog.

HTML is easy and I know some (got sick of typing "the coder"), but I am in no ways an expert, but whats another book?

I do not wish to use dreamweaver due to the price I’ve seen and used a little of NVU and have MIcrosoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express open right now and they seem similar. But Microsoft seems a bit more stable.

Right now I am leaning on learning ASP.NET and using the Micro WEb Develop to do this but if you may have some viable information or recommendations in this matter please leave the best information you can.

I want to start learning to develop in Windows (I’m coming from Java) and I do not know what software to download. I’m a student so I’m getting the software free from https://www.dreamspark.com/ (very nice of microsoft to do that). However there is a very long list of software and I don’t know what I need. there are different categories as well. I decided that I don’t need any of the server software, or the virtualPC (my computers kinda low-end) I am downloading Expression Studio right now but I’m not sure if I need it since I have photoshop. There are many applications under development tools and I’m not sure what I need and what I don’t
                            Here is a list:
                            VisualStudio2010 profetional
                            SmallBasic
                            Kodu Game Lab
                            VisualStudio2010 Express
                            VisualStudio2008 Profetional
                            XNA Game Studio
                            Robotics Developer Studio 2008 RC3
                            Windows MultiPoint Mouse SDK
                            Windows Embedded Standard 7
                            Windows Embedded CE 6.0
                            Visual Basic 2008
                            Visual C# 2008
                            Visual C++ 2008
                            Visual Web Developer 2008
                            —————————————————-
                            what I’m pretty sure I don’t need:
                            Windows Phone (I’m on Android)
Visual Studios ( I only need 1 of them. I might go with express, is professional that much better?)
XNA Game Studio (I won’t be doing Xbox or Zune Development)
Robotics Developer Studio (If only I had a Use for this!)
MultiPoint Mouse (Seems kinda cool though)
                            Windows Embeded
Visual Web Developer (I have DreamWeaver)

Also: I’m kinda confused about the visual basic/C#/C++. I guess I should get all 3 but which language should I focus on?

I just recently installed Microsoft virtual pc in my Windows 7. I need to run on Windows XP because I’m using it for web development purposes. I downloaded an image from the web to my desktop, and after shutting down and turning the virtual machine on, i noticed that my downloaded file is still there.

My question is where do all the files in my virtual Windows Xp get stored in my Windows 7?
